Here is an explanation of the settings that manage the material calculations for roll stock. Refer to the image below from the material detail.
Settings
In the example below we are printing a decal roll stock of 600W x 900H. Let's imagine that the image requires bleed - we need to print beyond the edge of the decal, to avoid white space on the edge due to cutting tolerance.
Based on a 1370W roll here are settings you can use to optimise material use
Finished Size:
The Finished size (1) is the size that you will give to the client. In this case the worksheet is the same size as the finished size.
Size Offset:
We can set an offset (2) of 20 mm on the width and height to allow for the bleed. You can see the effect of this offset as the magenta line in the diagram below.
Roll Margin Left and Right
Some machines can't print to the edge of a roll, so we need to allow a margin on the left on the right. This is shown as (4) above, and as the yellow strip on the image below
Roll Lead-In Distance
The media needs to be feed into the machine so we can start printing at the beginning of the roll. The Roll Lead-in distance (3) allows for the loss of material at the beginning and end of the production run.
