M-Power CRM includes a built-in notification system (since version 26.6.1) that keeps you informed about file approvals, overdue items, and other important events — without needing to check your email.
Quick Start
See your notifications: Look for the bell icon in the top-right corner of the navigation bar. A numbered badge appears when you have unread notifications.
Read a notification: Click the bell to open the dropdown, then click any notification to open the related record (e.g. the quote or order) in a new tab. The notification is automatically marked as read.
Dismiss a notification: Click the × button on any notification to remove it from your list.
Mark all as read: Click the double-tick icon in the dropdown header to mark everything as read at once.
Manage your preferences: Click the cog icon in the dropdown header, or go to the full preferences page to choose which notifications you receive.
The Notification Bell
The bell icon sits in the navigation bar at the top of every page. When you have unread notifications, a badge displays the count.
Clicking the bell opens a dropdown with three sections:
Header — shows the title "Notifications" with two action icons: a double-tick to mark all as read, and a cog to open your notification preferences.
Category Tabs — filter your notifications by category. The available tabs are:
- All — every notification across all categories
- Quotes — quote approvals, rejections, and overdue alerts
- Orders — order file approvals, rejections, and overdue alerts
- CRM — task assignments, follow-ups, and leads (coming soon)
Each tab shows its own unread count.
Notification List — your most recent notifications, newest first. Each item shows a colour-coded icon indicating the status (green for approved, red for rejected, orange for pending/overdue), a title and description, and the time since it was created. Click any item to navigate to the related record.
Footer — a "View all notifications" link opens the full-page Notification Centre.
The Notification Centre
For a more detailed view, click View all notifications from the bell dropdown, or navigate directly to the Notification Centre from the bell footer link.
The full page provides:
Category filter pills — filter by All, Quotes, Orders, CRM, Production, or System. Each pill shows the unread count for that category.
Read/Unread filter — a dropdown in the top-right lets you show All, Unread only, or Read only.
Mark all read — a button at the top marks all visible notifications (or all in the selected category) as read.
Notification rows — each notification displays with a status icon, title, description, timestamp, and category label. Unread notifications are highlighted with an orange left border. Click any row to open the related record in a new tab. Click the × button to dismiss it.
Load more — if you have more notifications than fit on one page, a "Load more" button appears at the bottom.
Notification Preferences
You can control exactly which notifications you receive and how they're delivered.
Accessing Preferences
Open the bell dropdown and click the cog icon, or navigate to the full-page preferences at Notification Preferences (accessible from both the bell dropdown and the Notification Centre's "Settings" button).
How Preferences Work
The preferences page shows all available notification types, grouped by category (e.g. Quotations, Orders, CRM, Production). Each notification type has a description explaining what triggers it.
For each type, you can toggle two delivery channels independently:
- In-App — the notification appears in your bell icon and Notification Centre
- Email — a notification email is sent to your registered email address
Toggle each channel on or off using the slider switches. Your changes won't take effect until you click Save Preferences at the bottom of the page.
Muting a Category
If you don't need notifications for an entire category (e.g. you don't work with quotes), you can mute the category using the toggle in the category header. Muting silences all non-mandatory notification types in that category at once.
Mandatory Notifications
Some notification types are marked as Required (shown in orange). These cannot be disabled — they're considered critical for business operations. The toggles for mandatory notifications are locked on.
Coming Soon Types
You'll notice some notification types have a Coming Soon badge and greyed-out toggles. These are planned notification types that haven't been activated yet. They'll become available in future updates — no action is needed on your part.
Resetting Preferences
Click the Reset button to discard any unsaved changes and reload your current saved preferences.
Understanding Notification Types
Currently Active
These notification types are live and will generate alerts based on real activity:
Quote Approvals — triggered when a quote or quote file is sent for customer approval, when the customer approves it, when the customer requests changes (rejected), or when the approval has been pending beyond the overdue threshold. You'll also receive a notification when you are assigned to a quote request.
Order File Approvals — triggered when an order file is sent for customer approval, when the customer approves it, when the customer requests changes, or when the approval is overdue.
Colour-Coded Icons
Notifications use colour-coded icons so you can quickly identify the status at a glance:
- Green (check mark) — Approved
- Red (cross) — Rejected / Changes Requested
- Orange (question mark) — Approval Requested
- Orange (exclamation) — Overdue
Frequently Asked Questions
How often are notifications updated? The bell icon checks for new notifications every 60 seconds automatically. You can also refresh the dropdown by closing and reopening it.
Will I get duplicate notifications? No. The system includes deduplication logic to prevent repeated alerts for the same event. For overdue notifications specifically, there is a cooldown period (set by your administrator) before a reminder is sent again.
Can I get notifications on my phone? Currently notifications are delivered via In-App (within M-Power CRM) and Email. Mobile push notifications are planned for a future release.
I'm not receiving notifications I expect to see — what should I check? First, check your preferences page to ensure the relevant notification type and channel are enabled, and that you haven't muted the category. If everything looks correct, ask your administrator to verify the default preferences and that the notification system setup is complete.
What happens to old notifications? Notifications are automatically cleaned up after a retention period (typically 90 days, configured by your administrator). Dismissed notifications are removed immediately from your view.
