This guide explains how to clock on and off, and how to record breaks (such as lunch or a tea break), using the barcode scan station, the desktop Quick Timing panel, and the mobile app.
What breaks are important in your business are defined by your management team. This document simply covers the feature set available in M-Power. Please seek guidance from your manager on what is required in business before using these features.
1. Using the Scan Station
The scan station is the shared screen where you scan your employee badge.
Clock on / clock off
- Scan your employee badge at the Scan Employee step.
- Your status appears, e.g. “You are not currently clocked on” or “You clocked on today at 7:03am”.
- Use the button shown:
- Clock On – when you are not yet clocked on.
- Clock Off – when you have finished for the day.
Start / end a break
Once you are clocked on, the panel also shows a break button:
- Start Break – begins a break (for example, lunch).
- End Break – ends the break you are currently on.
The button automatically switches between Start Break and End Break depending on whether you are currently on a break.
Using printed barcodes
Your workplace may provide printed barcode cards. Scan your employee badge first, then scan the barcode at the Scan Job step:
| Barcode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Clock On | Clocks you on for the day |
| Clock Off | Clocks you off for the day |
| Start Break | Starts a break |
| Start Meal Break | Starts a meal/lunch break specifically |
| End Break | Ends the break you are on |
2. Using Quick Timing (Desktop)
On the desktop, the Clock On/Off panel appears in the menu area at the top right by clicking on your username.
- It shows whether you are clocked on, with a Clock On or Clock Off button.
- Click Edit Times / View Profile (the stopwatch / person button) to open your Clock On/Off History.
Your Clock On/Off History
This window lists your clock-on records for the last two weeks, with a 7-day total. For each record you can:
- See your start and finish times and elapsed time.
- Add a break (the mug button), edit a break, or remove one.
- Edit the clock-on/off times if something was recorded incorrectly, or add a missing record (the + button).
Adding a break quickly
When adding a break, pick the break type, set the start time, then use the quick-duration buttons to set the end time:
- +15 min, +30 min, +45 min, +1 hour – sets the end time relative to the start.
The date defaults to the day of the clock-on record you are adding the break to, so you don’t accidentally record it on today’s date.
3. Using the Mobile Pages
On your phone, open the Clock On/Off page.
- The top card shows your current status with a Clock On / Clock Off button.
- The History section lists your recent clock-on records and your 7-day total.
- Tap a record to add or edit breaks, or use the + to add a clock-on record.
About breaks
| Type | Typical example | Paid? |
|---|---|---|
| Meal break | Lunch (usually 30+ minutes) | Usually unpaid |
| Rest break | Tea/coffee break (~10 minutes) | Usually paid |
- You can only have one break running at a time – end your current break before starting another.
- Unpaid breaks are deducted from your paid hours; paid breaks are not.
- Your actual break types and whether they are paid are configured by your administrator.
4. Barcodes
You can print the Clock On/Off and Break Barcodes from the Timesheets interface in settings.
