This guide shows you how to set reminders to follow up quotes, orders, leads, purchase orders and invoices — and how to assign tasks to your colleagues.
Ever finished a quote and thought "I must chase this up on Friday"? Tasks let you set that reminder in M-Power itself. When the follow-up falls due, M-Power reminds you through the notification bell — and keeps nagging daily until you mark it done.
Requires: Notifications enabled for your M-Power site (see Notifications — your alerts in M-Power).

What is a task?
A task is a to-do with an optional due date. It can be:
- A personal reminder — "Follow up Quote #1234 on Friday". Tasks default to you, so a reminder is just a title and a date.
- A job for a colleague — assign the task to someone else and they're notified immediately.
- Linked to a document — tasks created from a quote, order, lead, purchase order or invoice carry a link straight back to it. Clicking the reminder opens the document.
- Standalone — a task doesn't have to be linked to anything.
Creating a follow-up reminder
You can create a task from wherever you're working:
From a quote or order
- Open the quote or order.
- Click Tools > Set Follow-up / Assign Task (or click the Tasks button and choose New Follow-up).
- The title is pre-filled (e.g. "Follow up Quote #1234"). Adjust it if you like and add any notes.
- Pick a Remind on date. Add a Time if the reminder should arrive at a specific time of day — otherwise it's treated as an end-of-day follow-up.
- Leave Assign to as Me for a personal reminder, or search for a colleague to assign it to them.
- Click Create Task.
You can also do this without opening the document — the quote and order lists have a row menu (the blue arrow button) with the same Set Follow-up / Assign Task option.
From a lead, purchase order or invoice
Click the Tasks button in the page toolbar, then New Follow-up. The dialog works the same way.
When logging a sales call
The sales call dialog has always let you set a Followup Date, which creates a follow-up call. There's now also a checkbox: "Also set a reminder task". Tick it and M-Power creates a matching task so the follow-up actually reminds you — assigned to whoever the call is assigned to.
From your calendar
In Me > Calendar, click Add Task. The reminder date is pre-filled with whichever day you have selected.
How reminders reach you
- When a task is due soon (within a day), you get a Task Due Soon notification on the bell.
- Once the due time passes, you get a Task Overdue notification — and it repeats daily until the task is completed or cancelled. Overdue reminders cannot be switched off.
- If you set a specific time, the reminder arrives within the hour it falls due. Date-only tasks are treated as due at end of business (5pm).
- Assigning a task to a colleague notifies them immediately. You are never notified about your own actions — creating a reminder for yourself stays quiet until it falls due.
Clicking a task notification takes you to the linked document, or to My Tasks if the task isn't linked to anything.
My Tasks
Open Me > My Tasks. This is your task list:
- Filter between Open, Completed and All, switch between tasks assigned to you and tasks you created, and search by title.
- Overdue tasks are highlighted with a red marker.
- Click Done to complete a task, or Start to show you're working on it.
- Click a task title for the detail view — notes, the linked document, comments, and a full history of who did what.
- Comments — anyone involved in a task can comment; the other participants are notified.
Tasks on quotes, orders and other documents
Every quote, order, lead, purchase order and invoice has a Tasks button in its toolbar showing a count of open tasks. Click it to see the document's task list.
Completed tasks stay in the list, greyed out with a strikethrough and their completion date — so a document's tasks read like a worked checklist. Use this to run a simple process per job: create the checks as tasks up front, and tick them off as you go.
Tasks on your calendar
Your open tasks appear on Me > Calendar alongside your sales calls, coloured by priority:
- Drag a task to another day to change its due date.
- Click a task for a quick view with a Mark Done button.
- Toggle Completed in the calendar header to also show finished tasks, greyed out. M-Power remembers your choice.
- Tasks with a specific due time appear at that time in the Week and Day views.
Assigning and reassigning
- Assign a task to a colleague when creating it, or reassign later from the task detail. Both the old and new owner are notified.
- When someone completes a task you assigned, you're notified.
- Priorities (Low / Normal / High / Critical) colour the task on lists and the calendar — useful for triage, but they don't change when reminders fire.
Common questions
Do I need to do anything to get reminders?
No — reminders arrive on the notification bell automatically. Check your notification preferences if you want to adjust which task alerts you receive (overdue alerts always come through).
Can I set a reminder for someone else?
Yes — that's just a task assigned to them with a due date.
What happens if I don't complete a task?
It goes overdue and reminds the assignee daily until it's completed or cancelled.
Can I delete a task?
Tasks are cancelled rather than deleted, so the history stays on the document.
