Orders, quotes, purchase orders and most other documents in M-Power have a Files panel where you can attach artwork, paperwork, photos, and links. This article covers the everyday file actions; see File versions and approval history for what happens when a file goes through multiple revisions.
Adding files
Click Add File on the Files panel and drop files onto the upload dialog (or click it to browse). You can upload several files at once, and large files upload in the background in chunks.
What you can do with a file
Each file row has action buttons:
- View — preview the file in your browser without downloading it. PDFs, images and emails preview directly.
- Download — save a copy to your computer.
- Upload Revised Version — replace the file with a newer revision while keeping the old one in its version history (orders and quotes).
- Delete — remove the file from the document.
- Rename — click the file name itself to rename it.
Controlling where a file appears
- Client visible — files marked client-visible appear to your customer in the customer portal. Files uploaded by the customer through the portal are flagged as client uploads.
- Show on job card — include the file (typically artwork or a photo) on the printed job card so production can see it.
Emailing files
When emailing from a document, the email dialog lists the document's files so you can tag the ones to attach. Only current files are offered — superseded versions of a revised file stay in history and can't be attached by accident.
Sending a file for approval
Files on an order or quote can be emailed to your customer for approval. The customer receives a secure single-use link where they can view the file, approve it or request changes, add comments, and return a marked-up copy. The response is recorded against the file on the document — see File versions and approval history for how approved and marked-up proofs are tracked, and for the email and in-app notifications you receive when the customer responds (or doesn't).
Attaching emails and their attachments
Emails filed against a document can be previewed like any other file, and their attachments can be extracted onto the document as separate files, so you don't have to download and re-upload them.
